Antique Shepherd’s Carved Chest

Different forms of these ‘sarcophagus’ style chests were made thoughout Eastern Europe and the Balkans and were generally associated with the highland shepherds or Vlachs. This variety of chest has been regarded by experts as the most beautiful and comes from Bihar province in modern day Romania. Very solid and clean made of beechwood.
