Another striking primitive carved village bridal chest from Anatolia, the form is very unusual being quite shallow. The concentration of the piece is on the carved exterior full of abstract and geometric magical devices. It is believed these ‘folk magic’ motifs used to deter the evil eye are rooted in astrology. This piece is decorated with bright pink and green paint. A one-off!
