A charming painted box possibly a marriage piece - it’s an unusual documentary piece in that it shows in certain parts of Eastern Europe the peasants would decorate their boxes by sampling images from popular magazines. This piece combines colourful folk painted flowers with such images and so it’s an unusual combination of styles - pop art/folk art if you like. It’s a neat small size clean within and affordable.
