There was a collector in Ireland some 25-30 yrs ago who travelled the country in search of rare and unusual country furniture and articles, some fine and some rustic, and this was one of the best pieces to be found in the collection he amassed, never offering pieces for sale and leaving all untouched, only occasionally loaning items out to films or exhibitions.
This piece is an exceptional painted pine 2-piecer Georgian bookcase, tall and elegant with notable decorative carved bracket feet, original paint and panelled doors with fans but of unique appeal is the bold and expressive astragal glazing in the upper section.
