A vibrant and superb condition folk painted marriage bench from the Hungarian Calvanist country folk of Central Transylvania. The painting style imitates embroidery. These pieces are so well preserved because they formed part of a dowry suite and lived in the clean room barely used. This one dates probably to 1940-50.
