A superb example of a marriage bench from the Hungarian tribes of Central Eastern Transylvania, an area famed for it’s painted furniture, and you can see why here, this is a very well crafted bed and box bench decorated all over in a traditional manner panels of folk painting depicting flowers and tree of life symbols and pair of birds. The overall effect and colour scheme is very much in imitation of textile embroideries. Good solid clean condition. Nice wear and patina.
