Superb Early Oak Hall Settle
Ref: 4166
A large 17th century oak settle bench with rich patina and unusual decorative finials. Carving above the back panels suggests c, 1630-40 date. Holes on the front and back rails would have been for rope indicating that as common with early settles this one had a straw seat supported by rope trellis later replaced perhaps in the 17th century by oak plank seat.
Northern England c.1640
