Elegant Modern-Style Antique Box Bench
Ref: 4868
At the turn of the century that quintessential Middle European country furniture item, the box bench, was still made - it was essentially the same, if a little smaller than the previous norm, at around 180-185cm
The language of form however was overhauled, out went the curvy lines of the Rococo and traditional language of the Classical, in favour of the more restrained and austere modern, and yet, as here, there was still a human touch, an invitation, a sense of proportion, the lyric element such as you can see in the subtle curvature of the arm rests, and of course a lighter colour palette, which we have retained in our re-finishing. The seat lifts to large storage area - currently our best selling item, while stocks last.
