A superbly crafted wide pine marriage cupboard dated to ‘1824’. The style is neo-classical (Baroque) and the colouring too, very typical of this period being pale blues, greys and beiges with soft highlights provided by the red, white and green of the flowers. The curved shape of the pieces makes it stand out from others so too the accomplished carved detail. The interior is also impressive with built in shelves and several drawers for jewellery and keepsakes.
This piece would have been commissioned by a wealthy country family.
