Rare Ceiling Fragment with Painted Flowers and Carving

A section of a folk art painted and carved ceiling from an Afghan havela or merchant house. This is a small section of it adapted to hang on the wall. Such ceilings imitated the high art tiled ceilings of mosques such as The Great Mosque in Herat. It is painted on heavy boards with carpenter marks suggesting it may be quite an early piece.
