Huge Victorian Butcher Block Table with Decorative Ironwork
Ref: 3204
This is the "Moby Dick" of butcher blocks, I am not sure the photographs here do justice to it's scale and it is not the easiest piece to manoeuvre and re-photograph so please check dimensions.
This is an original Georgian or early Victorian butcher block table, with the original base and drawers. These open at both sides. This piece would clearly make a fantastic kitchen island or centre piece in a commercial setting. The top is huge with nice pale colouring and the original metal corner brackets make a neat decorative addition. The top is wavy and curvy through wear but not so much that cups, mugs and plates cannot sit on it comfortably.
This piece we bought in Ireland some years ago and it took a fork lift to get off the truck when it arrived. The maker's plate is missing but it was likely made either in Ireland to an English design or on "the mainland" from whence it would have been delivered to the kitchen of the "big house". Pieces like this if found don't normally come at less than 5k.
