Swedish Peasant Tapestry Painting
Ref: 1713
An 18th century Swedish decorative painting on hand made paper. The painting has been stitched onto linen and framed. It appears to be a discrete work in itself as there is a black border around the image. It resembles wall painting (seen in Sweden and American houses) and one speculates that it may have been an over-mantle decoration. Sometimes called “kurbits” or “bonad” painting.
