Primitive Portrait of Breton Bride
Ref: 1772
An oil on canvas portrait of a Breton bride wearing characteristic bonnet and dress, vivid and engaging rather than clumsy as the best primitive can be, the painting of the Elizabethan looking embroidered flowers on her dress is exquisite. Something of Christopher Wood here, this must have been the kind of local art that inspired his own Breton paintings.
