Peasant Carnival Jew's Mask
Ref: 2407
A startling and rare piece of genuine European peasant folk art, an authentic festive mask. This would be worn at a festive ritual, perhaps one of the many at winter time or at Christmas time, or was a mask used in a processional play, much like the Mummers' plays of England.
It has great patina, suggesting age but also and alternatively much use, For more information and interpretation see "In Focus" in the News and Articles section.
