Europe » Man-Sized Sugan Chair in Elm
Ref: 1387
Hard to convey the scale of this piece in the photographs.
These types of chair one sees but rarely with the rope seat in such good sturdy condition and rarely if ever with such generous and usable scale - and that is not to
mention the lovely colour of the wood, the delightful and “honest” open construction with bold pegs protruding, the excellent preservation. One imagines a shepherd of the Great Plain sat in this chair smoking a pipe wearing his full ankle length sheepskin overcoat. Predates the elimination of tribal dress by the Singer sewing machine and eminently suitable as an everyday desk chair.
