4 Pretty Hand Painted Antique Porringers
Ref: 3465
A group of five pretty hand painted faience-ware porringers or plates. These are good examples and came from a collector, he probably hand picked them from dealers' offerings some twenty or thirty years ago when they were coming out of houses in Transylvania and being offered at markets in Hungary. The techniques of manufacture are earlier than the actual date but typical of the folk arts of this part of Europe where everything was stuck back in time. They have small ties to reverse for hanging or in the past would have leant against a wooden bar on a plate rack.
