Carved Irish Dresser with Original Cream Paint
Ref: 3205
If you are looking for a better than average original Irish or British dresser not too wide and with good colour and easy to install then this could be for you. It is a stand out piece, dating from the 19th century, and unusual in that it comes in two pieces - Irish dressers are normally one piece. Genuine Irish dressers in original condition also often come with condition issues, old worm, some rot etc but this one arrived in superb and very clean condition. Notable features are the classy and bold cornice/top moulding, the sledge feet (intact) and chiefly the original carved frieze with shamrocks typical of Galway makers and a self-consciously Irish expression. This piece has been partly dry scraped to reveal the original layers of white and cream paint. Two drawers with original brass handles over two doors with original shelving inside. The shelves have lips to stand plates which can be removed if necessary giving the shelves more depth.
