Rare Miniature Dowry Box
Ref: 2350
Sometimes in addition to a larger dowry to hold one′s wedding dresses and finest linens a bride would have made a miniature dowry, a small version of the larger type, and this was intended to house jewellery and other small precious items. This is a superb example in that it is in excellent condition, it even has the original lockplate and keys. It dates to the early 19th century. Bought recently from a private collection.
A nice collector or museum piece.
