Early Small Rocking Horse in Original Paint
Ref: 1709
An antique English rocking horse still on its bearers put removed from the rocking mechanism. It has achieved a “just-so”decorative appeal having been dry scraped to an attractive and distinctive mix of first colours, pale creams yellows, blue-greys and whites. Quite finely carved out of wood and a nice size. Somewhere between a relic of Phideas and Fuseli’s Night Mare.
English early 19th cent.
H: 65cm (25.6in)
W: 91cm (35.8in)
D: 28cm (11.0in)
